TEAM SOLIVENTA
About the project
SOLIVENTA LEARN
The school operating system for Nigerian private schools
ONE-LINE PITCH
Soliventa Learn gives every private school its own branded platform for admissions, fee collection, coursework, computer-based exams and AI teaching tools, in one affordable system.
THE PROBLEM
Most private schools still run on paper forms, WhatsApp groups, cash and transfer receipts, and spreadsheets. Applications get lost. Fee tracking is messy, and part payments cause disputes. Teachers spend evenings writing lesson plans, assignments and exam questions by hand. Foreign software is expensive and not built for naira billing, part payments or local exam practice.
THE SOLUTION
Each school gets its own account under its own name, logo and colour, plus a public website. It switches on only the modules it needs:
- Admissions: requirements, online applications, accept or decline
- Fees: fee structure, part payments, numbered receipts, totals, and an option to lock CBT exams until fees are paid
- Courses and assignments: teachers publish, students access
- Library: books, PDFs and videos
- CBT: question bank, timed exams, automatic scoring, retakes
- AI tools: exam question generator, study packs and flashcards, ask-the-note, lesson plans, assignment ideas, and a writer for announcements and letters
- School website: about, news, job openings, gallery, contact
- Four roles: platform admin, school admin and librarian, teacher, student
POWERED BY ADAPTION AI
Our AI features run on a model trained with Adaption AI. This lets us tailor the AI to Nigerian schools: local curriculum, exam styles and language. It saves teachers hours on lesson plans, assignments and exam questions, and gives students study packs, flashcards and the ability to ask questions about their own notes. Teachers review all AI-generated questions before they are used in an exam.
WHAT WE HAVE BUILT
- A complete interactive prototype covering every module above
- A designed landing page with an admissions register and fee receipt as the hero visual
- A full backend specification: multi-tenant architecture, roles and permissions, data model, API, payment flow, AI service layer, security, and a 12 to 14 week delivery plan
Next: the production backend, live payments, live Adaption AI integration and pilot schools.
THE MARKET
Nigeria’s private school sector is huge and spread across thousands of small operators:
- About 51,500 private primary schools, 17,900 private junior secondary schools and 17,500 private senior secondary schools (2018/19 government data). Many schools combine levels, so these overlap.
- About 5.7 million children in private primary schools.
- Private schools made up 90% of primary schools in Lagos. In the South-West, where we start, 68% of all schools are private.
- Private schools enrol about 28% of secondary students nationally (World Bank, 2023).
Every one of these schools collects fees, takes admissions and teaches classes, and almost none has software built for it.
REVENUE POTENTIAL
- Subscription: at ₦50,000 per school per term (₦150,000 a year), 2,000 schools, about 2% of private schools, brings in ₦300 million a year.
- Payments: we take 1% of fees processed. Every ₦1 billion of fees collected through the platform earns ₦10 million.
- AI tier: paid upgrade for higher usage, priced per school.
WHY IT IS INVESTABLE
- Large, fragmented buyer base with decision-making owners who can sign up in a day.
- Recurring revenue. Schools bill every term, so subscriptions fit naturally.
- Payments upside. Fees flow through the platform, so processing fees grow with every school.
- High switching costs. Once admissions, fee history and results live in Soliventa, schools rarely leave.
- Modular and white-label. Schools adopt what they need, under their own name.
- AI differentiation. Teacher time saved is concrete, and the Adaption-trained model is hard for generic tools to copy.
- Low build cost. One API, one database, standard payment providers. A small team ships v1 in about a quarter.
- Expansion path. Start in Ibadan, then the rest of the South-West and Nigeria, then West Africa. Add parent accounts, report cards, attendance and SMS as upsells.
BUSINESS MODEL
- Subscription per school per term, tiered by student count
- 1% processing fee on school fee payments
- Paid AI tier
- Setup fee for larger schools
GO-TO-MARKET
Pilot with 10 schools in Ibadan. Collect testimonials and fee-collection results. Then grow through proprietor networks, school associations, direct sales, and referral discounts between school owners.
RISKS AND ANSWERS
- Poor connectivity: lightweight pages, autosaving exams, mobile-first design
- Trust with money: hosted checkout, so we never handle card data, plus verified payment webhooks
- Child data: compliance with Nigeria’s data protection law, recorded consent, audit logs
- Competition: affordability, local payment habits and the Adaption-trained AI
