Oddsmaker
A prediction market for hackathons, with AI setting the odds.
Hackathons go quiet between kickoff and demos. Oddsmaker gives everyone in the room a stake in every project. Attendees bet play-money Hackcoin on which team will win each prize category, and prices move live as bets come in.
Odds come from Scout, an AI analyst that researches every team. Nimble searches the web and past hackathon galleries for similar ideas, checks whether each team’s demo is live, and pulls what past judges rewarded. The GitHub API adds commit activity and which SDKs each team actually uses. Gemini reads all of it, plus a screenshot of the demo, and writes a report scoring each team on originality, build progress, demo health and prize fit. Scout refreshes every 30 minutes and re-sets the odds, so the market moves even when nobody is betting.
Tiger Data is the only database. Every bet and every Scout move is stored as a time-series price tick, and a continuous aggregate serves the live price chart.
No real money is involved. Hosts can turn Oddsmaker on for any event, and the best forecaster wins.

Best Use of Gemini API
Gemini is Oddsmaker's analyst, and its output sets the odds. For every team, our Scout makes one multimodal Gemini call. It sends the team's idea, similar projects that Nimble found on Devpost and the web, the repo's GitHub activity, the live demo's page text and, when the demo is up, a screenshot of it. Gemini returns structured JSON, enforced with a response schema: a short read for bettors, labelled findings on originality, build progress, demo and prize fit, and a 1–100 score for each prize. We clamp those scores and turn them into each market's odds, so every report moves live prices on the board. The previous report goes back in on each refresh, so scores stay steady unless the evidence changes, and Gemini writes a change note that appears beside each move in the odds history.

Best Use of Tiger Data
Tiger Data is Oddsmaker's only database. Its key use, and the one for the prize, is storing every price change as time-series data and drawing the live price chart from a continuous aggregate.

Best Use of Nimble
Nimble is Oddsmaker's live-web eyes. Scout's odds are built on evidence Nimble fetches from the live web, and the core use, the originality check, is one of the three things the spec says the demo can't cut.
