Phantom Fusion: Any Room Becomes a Haunt
Phantom Fusion is a Halloween first-person shooter we built to put Gemma 4 through its paces, running fully offline on an ordinary 16 GB laptop. We tested it in three ways:
Fuse a photo or floor plan (vision): Gemma reads a room photo, or the labels and scale of a 2D floor plan, and the game turns it into a 3D level. On our test plans of the University of Southampton’s Hartley Library, a whole floor comes out with its walls, rooms and stairs.
Samples (performance): prepared levels for testing the game itself: six weapons including a butterfly knife, the Halloween night graphics, and reaction time and speed.
Describe a room (text): type “a dorm with two beds and three chairs” and Gemma designs the room from words alone.
The model is gemma4:e4b-it-qat in Ollama, used through Docker, Open WebUI and a small Python server; the game runs in the browser with Three.js. Open source under Apache-2.0.
