bAIdget
bAIdget: AI-powered expense tracking, one screenshot at a time
Tagline: Snap a receipt, and bAIdget logs, categorizes, and summarizes your spending for you.
Description
Tracking expenses is tedious, so most people give up after a week. bAIdget is a mobile app that removes the friction. Take a photo of a receipt, or screenshot a payment confirmation from your banking app, and the AI reads the merchant, date, total, VAT, and line items. It then files the expense under one of your own categories. You can also add expenses manually and mark any of them as recurring, such as rent or subscriptions.
Key features
- Google sign-in with a quick onboarding where you pick your own spending categories (at least 2, plus custom ones).
- AI scan of receipts and payment screenshots, powered by Gemini with structured output. Doubtful extractions are flagged for review.
- Manual entry for single or recurring expenses.
- Monthly and yearly summaries, with totals broken down by category.
- Private by design: each user only sees their own data, and scanned images are never stored.
How it works: the Flutter app authenticates with Firebase Auth and talks to a FastAPI backend, which verifies the user’s token, stores data in Firestore, and calls Gemini to extract data from images. Money is handled with exact decimal arithmetic on the backend.
Built with: Flutter, Python, FastAPI, Firebase Auth, Firestore, Gemini, Docker, Google Cloud Run.
What’s next: family groups, e-mail receipt import, bulk scanning, speech-to-text entry, and multi-currency support.
This describes the full planned scope. If any feature isn’t working by the deadline (recurring expenses or the yearly summary, for example), remove it from the list or move it under “What’s next”. Want a shorter version for a character-limited field?
