About the project

Today, most AI systems wait for people to ask questions. HumanityOS takes a different approach: What if AI could independently recognize community needs, investigate problems, connect people with resources, and help coordinate meaningful interventions?

Inspired by the vision of benevolent AI portrayed in The Gifted, HumanityOS is designed to move beyond answering questions toward improving real-world outcomes.

Our first implementation focuses on Miami, using 88,078 historical 311 service requests to identify recurring neighborhood problems, geographic concentrations of complaints, service delays, and patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed.

HumanityOS combines geospatial analytics with specialized AI capabilities to support a six-stage process:

Observe → Understand → Anticipate → Connect → Act → Learn

Through an interactive geographic interface, users can explore community issues and examine evidence-backed discoveries. The system is designed to use Google’s Gemma 4 for deeper investigation, Jev for classification and prioritization, and resource-matching capabilities to identify organizations positioned to help.

Rather than simply reporting problems, HumanityOS aims to translate insights into actionable interventions, with human oversight and approval before consequential actions are executed.

Our initial dataset covers October 2022 through August 2024, providing a historical foundation for discovering and evaluating community patterns. The architecture is designed to incorporate additional datasets and more timely information as they become available.

Our vision is to create a scalable humanitarian intelligence platform that helps communities recognize needs earlier, coordinate resources more effectively, and turn intelligence into meaningful action.
HumanityOS asks a simple question:

What if AI didn’t wait to be asked for help—but actively looked for opportunities to make the world better?

**What problem are you solving?
**
Communities generate enormous amounts of information about problems affecting residents, but that information is often fragmented, reactive, and difficult to translate into coordinated action.

Existing civic dashboards primarily visualize problems. They rarely identify emerging needs autonomously, investigate underlying patterns, or connect findings with organizations capable of helping.

HumanityOS addresses this gap by transforming public data into proactive, evidence-based opportunities for community intervention.

**How does your project solve the problem?
**
HumanityOS combines geospatial analysis, AI-powered investigation, decision intelligence, and resource coordination.

Using Miami’s historical 311 service-request data, the platform identifies recurring problems, geographic hotspots, and service delays.

Its AI architecture is designed to investigate discoveries, assess their significance, identify relevant resources, and recommend interventions that can be reviewed and authorized by humans.

The result is a system designed to move beyond detecting problems toward helping communities address them.
