CivicFix
CivicFix AI: From Citizen Evidence to Verified Civic Action
CivicFix AI is an open-source, AI-powered civic intelligence platform designed to simplify the reporting, prioritization, tracking, and resolution of everyday civic problems. It addresses issues such as potholes, damaged roads, overflowing garbage bins, broken streetlights, open drains, and damaged footpaths.
The platform uses multimodal artificial intelligence to analyze photographs and descriptions submitted by citizens. It identifies potential civic issues, classifies their categories, evaluates severity, public impact, safety risk, evidence quality, and freshness, and generates an explainable priority score. Based on this analysis, CivicFix creates a structured complaint and assigns a unique CivicFix Issue ID for tracking.
To reduce duplicate complaints, the system identifies potentially related reports using semantic similarity, location information, and issue categories. Multiple reports can be associated with a single civic issue, helping reviewers understand the extent of the problem. Google Maps provides geographic visualization, while Google Street View offers additional location context wherever coverage is available.
A distinctive feature is the Government Resolution Portal, where authorized users in the prototype can search for an issue by its CivicFix ID, update its status, and upload resolution photographs and notes. The AI can compare the original evidence with subsequent photographs to assess whether the issue appears resolved, partially resolved, remains open, or requires further verification.
CivicFix AI aims to bridge the gap between citizen reporting and transparent civic action. By combining AI-powered analysis, geospatial intelligence, duplicate detection, and evidence-based resolution tracking, it creates a traceable workflow from identifying a problem to assessing its resolution.
