GitHub Wrapped 🎁

Your GitHub year, wrapped Spotify-Wrapped-style, then roasted by AI.

GitHub Wrapped turns a year of commits, pull requests, and late-night pushes into a full-screen, tap-through story, the same format Spotify made famous for your music, but for your code. Sign in with GitHub and watch your year come alive: how many repos you shipped, your longest contribution streak, your most-starred projects, your top languages, and how your private work (which only you can see) stacks up against your public one. It closes with an AI-generated “developer persona,” a short, witty, slightly roasting summary of who your commit history says you are, written by Gemma via the Gemini API.

Why we built it

GitHub’s own contribution graph is just a wall of green squares. It tells you that you were active, not what that year actually looked like as a story: the project you poured months into, the streak you kept alive, the language you quietly fell in love with. We wanted something that felt like opening Spotify Wrapped in December: a few seconds of genuine “oh, that’s actually kind of impressive.”

How it works
Sign in with GitHub (OAuth): no username lookup for other people; you can only ever wrap your own account, including private repos, since the data never leaves your own session.
Server-side data aggregation: a Next.js API route pulls your profile, all owned repos, commit/PR/issue counts, and your real contribution streak (via GitHub’s GraphQL API, the same data behind the green activity graph) using your OAuth token. None of this touches the client directly.
AI persona generation: your aggregated stats are sent to Gemma (via the Gemini API) to generate a short, personality-driven writeup of your year as a developer.
A full-screen story UI: bold flat colors and poster-style typography, tap-through like a social media story, instead of a static dashboard of numbers.
