About the project

SortSense is an offline, privacy-first background service designed to eliminate digital clutter by automatically monitoring, reading, and organizing incoming desktop and WhatsApp downloads. Instead of relying on traditional file-extension rules or cloud-based APIs, it operates entirely locally on your machine, ensuring that your sensitive documents, personal photos, and work files never leave your device.

At its core, the project harnesses Gemma 4 to perform deep semantic categorization. Rather than simply sorting files by type, it analyzes the actual content and context of incoming documents, media, and text—intelligently routing items into relevant categories like invoices, research papers, project assets, or screenshots.

Running silently in the background, SortSense transforms chaotic download folders and cluttered desktops into clean, structured directory systems effortlessly. By combining high-performance local AI inference with automated file-system monitoring, it offers a seamless, zero-latency solution for keeping your local workspace organized without compromising your privacy.
