GemmaQ: SmartWelcome AI
GemmaQ: SmartWelcome AI is an AI-powered welcome and visitor-assistance application designed to make event experiences more interactive, intelligent, and efficient. The project explores the use of locally running Gemma AI alongside an Arduino UNO Q to connect intelligent software with physical computing.
How It Works:
The application is designed to provide intelligent welcome messages, answer event-related questions, and assist administrators with visitor-facing information. A webcam-based component can detect the presence or passage of a person without identifying them through facial recognition.
The Gemma model serves as the conversational intelligence, generating responses based on the information provided to it. The Arduino UNO Q is intended to support physical feedback, such as onboard LED indicators, through a verified connection between the hardware and the application.
Key Features:
- AI-powered welcome messages and event assistance.
- Local Gemma model integration, subject to the capabilities of the installed model and runtime.
- Person-presence detection without facial recognition or biometric identification.
- Intended Arduino UNO Q integration for physical feedback.
- An administrator interface for managing and monitoring the experience.
- A privacy-conscious design that separates person detection from named identity or attendance verification.
Technologies:
The project combines AI, web application development, computer vision, and embedded hardware integration. The final technology list reflects the components actually implemented and tested.
Project Goal:
Our goal is to demonstrate how local AI and accessible hardware can work together to create a more responsive, privacy-conscious, and engaging welcome experience for events and organizations.
Hardware connectivity and individual features will be demonstrated according to their verified implementation status.
