About the project
Drive With Me is an AI-assisted driving education prototype inspired by a personal challenge: feeling confident behind the wheel only when a trusted friend or instructor is sitting beside you. Many new drivers lack that support, and additional lessons can be expensive.
The project helps learners practice observing road situations through recorded driving videos. Users can explore three built-in demos with authored coaching or upload a short clip for analysis with Google Gemini. Timestamped observations, spoken explanations, captions, and replay controls help learners review visible vehicles, pedestrians, road markings, and situations that deserve attention.
Built with Angular, Python, and FastAPI, the proof of concept makes repeatable learning available without coordinating another person’s time. It clearly distinguishes authored demo content from AI-generated observations and acknowledges what the camera cannot show.
Our long-term vision is accessible support for people learning to drive. This version focuses on video-based preparation for supervised practice; it does not provide live driving instructions, control a vehicle, or replace an instructor.
