Hack for Humanity: San Francisco
A one-day San Francisco hackathon where builders use Google Gemini and Photon to create practical solutions to local community problems.
Safety Net
SafetyNet is a tool that uses a camera to look out for people who live alone. If someone falls, it notices and speaks to them right away, asking simple questions like “Are you hurt?” and “Can you move?”, the way a family member would over the phone. If the person is okay, their family gets a calm text to check in. If they’re hurt, can’t answer or ask for an ambulance, family gets an urgent alert straight away, along with a short video from the camera of what happened. Family can reply “HERE” to let everyone know they’re on the way. If nobody responds, a message goes to an emergency contact so the person isn’t left alone. It’s a prototype and not a medical device, and it never calls emergency services.
