Hack for Humanity: San Francisco
A one-day San Francisco hackathon where builders use Google Gemini and Photon to create practical solutions to local community problems.
SF Civic Lens + FalkorDB (Gemini Multimodal 311 Intake & FalkorDB Knowledge Graph Hack for Humanity SF)
Key Highlights of the Application
Gemini Vision Integration:
Evaluates street photographs (e.g., asphalt craters, blocked wheelchair ADA curb ramps, illegal dumping, broken luminaires) and generates structured 311 tickets.
Accepts any user-provided Google AI Studio API key via the top Gemini Key dialog, while also including a high-fidelity local mode for reliable demos.
FalkorDB Urban Knowledge Graph:
Features an interactive graph canvas demonstrating relationships between Incident, District, Department, and Hotspot Cluster nodes.
Provides an interactive Cypher Query Runner (e.g., MATCH (d:District {name:‘SOMA’})<-[:IN]-(i:Incident) RETURN i.category, count(i)) illustrating how the city detects chronic infrastructure neglect.
Leaflet Heatmap & 311 Feed:
Renders live incident markers color-coded by severity (Critical, High, Medium, Low) centered directly on 501 Folsom St (the Entrepreneurs First venue for Hack for Humanity: San Francisco).
Includes full ticket filtering, CSV export, and a quick Pitch Deck assistant tailored to MLH and sponsor judging rubrics.
