RepairRecord
About the project
RepairRecord helps Gainesville renters document maintenance problems and get
real legal leverage when a landlord won’t respond. A tenant photographs the
issue and writes one sentence; the app timestamps and hashes the photo
server-side, uses Google Gemini to classify the problem and assess whether
it affects habitability, and drafts a written 7-day notice under Florida
Statute §83.56(1) — the law that requires landlords be given written notice
and a cure period before a tenant has any real remedy. The app tracks the
cure deadline once the notice is delivered and exports a single PDF evidence
packet — photos, timestamps, hashes, the notice, and the full event log —
that a tenant can hand to a legal-aid clinic or small claims court.
RepairRecord is documentation and a template, not legal advice, and links
directly to UF Student Legal Services and Three Rivers Legal Services.
